Sheepdog Handlers
Aled Owen
A hill farmer close to the Snowdonia National Park, Aled is a master in the art of sheepdog handling and has now opened ‘Ewe’phoria’, an entertainment and educational centre which has been voted one of the top 50 UK Tourist Attractions by the Independent on Sunday and been featured in TV programmes such as Bargain Hunt and Holiday 2004.
Aled has represented Wales at International level no fewer than 22 times and has won the Supreme title twice (being the first handler to defend the title with two different dogs since 1912).
His numerous outstanding wins include:
- World Sheepdog Trials 2002 and 2008
- International Sheepdog Society Supreme Champion 1999 (with Roy) and 2000 (with Bob)
- 7 times winner of Welsh Open Championship
- 8 times winner of North Wales Sheepdog Society Open Championship
- Winner of BBC TV ‘One Man and His Dog’ doubles title
- 3 times winner of Welsh National Championship
- 5 times Welsh Aggregate Champion
As if working and trialling his own dogs wasn’t enough, Aled is passing his wealth of expertise and experience on to others by judging competitions plus holding training clinics and tutorials at home and abroad, including America, all over Europe and Scandinavia. The training courses are suitable for people who want to compete in trials or those who want to train their dogs for day to day work on their farms.
The success of Aled’s dogs listed below show his talent in both breeding sheepdogs and having an eye for selecting a good working dog. Bob and Gwyn (ISDS 248002) are available at stud and as A.I. semen.

I won't do that again!!
Hi Ceri,
I thought I would email to let you know I've just put another order through. A friend bought our last bag so we haven't ordered for ourselves for a while.
The reason I am emailing is that we chose to try a bag of biscuits which were not CSJ and were from a local store. I am amazed at the difference in my dog's coat, health and smell (both fur and breath)!
When she was on the CSJ biscuits (probably for the last couple of years), people used to comment on how shiny her fur was. Her stools were always easy to pick up and her teeth were white. She's had ONE BAG (15kg) of different biscuits and her fur is dull and shedding. Her teeth are starting to go brown and she smells like an old dog. I am amazed as she's only 4 years old. I'm just hoping that some of the effects of the last lot of biscuits will be reversible with the CSJ!!
Have other people told you of such a big difference with biscuits? It really does appear that the poor biscuits have aged her! She's even sleeping more and for a border collie you'll know that's unusual in a young dog! It's very strange in such a short period of time. What on earth do these companies use to make them??!
Regards,
Debbie B.
