Fallowfen Gundogs
Amanda and Phillip have a small kennel of working gundogs for the field and competition.
The dogs ...
There are currently 3 Golden Retrievers, 7 Labradors, 1 English Springer Spaniel and 7 of the more unusual Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers (Tollers).
The Toller is the smallest retriever in the gundog group ...
Amanda and Phillip say, “A lot of people look at the Toller and think collie cross.
The reason we went for the Toller is for versatility in that they can be used for agility, flyball, heelwork to music, working gundogs, obedience, working trials, showing, tracking and most importantly a loving family pet.
We use our Tollers in the shooting field, working them the same way as any other retriever.”
Pros and cons of the Toller?
“The biggest pro for us is that they have the intelligence of a Border Collie, along with its keen eye and steadiness.
The only con we would say personally is that they would go home with anyone as they are very people orientated.”
The Toller gene pool in the UK
The Fallowfen Tollers are working gundogs but Amanda and Phillip say that unfortunately in the UK there is a lack of good working lines so they have imported new blood from Poland, which will help broaden the English gene pool.
They are also looking to import new blood from a working Toller kennel in Europe.
Other activities?
Amanda and Phillip had boarding kennels in the past. They are qualified micro-chippers, have been named Animal Care and Welfare Officers and held personal licences.

Your dog food is a blessing!
We tried all the expensive foods in an attempt to help our bearded collie who suffered terribly from loose bloody stools. Nothing worked until we tried your food for sensitive tums. She has never been better.
So not only are we saving on dog food, but also on vet bills!
Thank you from Michelle and Milly the Beardie.
