Sheepdog Handlers
Terry Bogue
Terry’s skills cover more disciplines than most ….. the list includes obedience, sheepdog work and trials, obedience competitions, sled dog racing and the showring!
There are currently 6 Sheepdogs registered with the International Sheep Dog Society under the kennel name of ‘Celtic’, and 4 Alaskan Malamutes registered under the kennel name of ‘Celticwolf’.
The beginning ……
Terry was competing in Obedience with a KC registered Border Collie in 1992, when he bought an ISDS Sheepdog from Ceri Rundle’s family and started training her for Sheepdog work.
He became involved with Alaskan Malamutes when people started bringing them to him for training.
Amongst numerous successes Terry lists his most memorable as:
First time of qualifying for Crufts with one of his Alaskan Malamutes
Getting selected for the County Sheepdog Team in South Wales finals with two of his Sheepdogs from the same litter, and having another from the litter also in the team – so having 3 dogs from the same litter in the top 6 dogs in the county!
Other notable successes:
- Rebel (Terry’s KC Border Collie) won through the obedience classes to work at ‘C only’
- Having all his Sheepdogs in the county team for the last 7 years.
- Qualifying Chief, one of his Alaskan Malamutes, for Crufts, being placed in the top 3 for the last 3 years and qualifying him for Crufts 2008.
- Qualifying Juno (a dog he bred) for Crufts 2007, getting a 3rd place, and qualifying her for Crufts 2008.
- Being unbeaten by any Malamute teams in 2 day working sleddog rallies with 2 of his Malamutes
Any other involvement with dogs?
Yes, Terry has instructed at dog clubs, does one-to-one dog training lessons for obedience, gundogs and sheepdogs, takes dogs in for training and also sells CSJ products.

“I have been using CSJ Dog Food for many years and all of my young sheepdogs and Alaskan Malamutes were reared on the puppy food and are now thriving on the adult food. The sheepdogs and Malamutes are strong, healthy, full of stamina and have well conditioned coats. The sheepdogs compete in sheepdog trials, and the Malamutes run in sleddog rallies and compete in the showring.”

I won't do that again!!
Hi Ceri,
I thought I would email to let you know I've just put another order through. A friend bought our last bag so we haven't ordered for ourselves for a while.
The reason I am emailing is that we chose to try a bag of biscuits which were not CSJ and were from a local store. I am amazed at the difference in my dog's coat, health and smell (both fur and breath)!
When she was on the CSJ biscuits (probably for the last couple of years), people used to comment on how shiny her fur was. Her stools were always easy to pick up and her teeth were white. She's had ONE BAG (15kg) of different biscuits and her fur is dull and shedding. Her teeth are starting to go brown and she smells like an old dog. I am amazed as she's only 4 years old. I'm just hoping that some of the effects of the last lot of biscuits will be reversible with the CSJ!!
Have other people told you of such a big difference with biscuits? It really does appear that the poor biscuits have aged her! She's even sleeping more and for a border collie you'll know that's unusual in a young dog! It's very strange in such a short period of time. What on earth do these companies use to make them??!
Regards,
Debbie B.
